What is the Pre-MBA?
Pre-MBA programs are designed to prepare international students for success in North American Masters of Business Administration programs, as well as to help all students get ready for the demands of research-based learning. Programs for pre-MBA will also help students prepare to pass English Proficiency tests like the TOEFL or IELTS and other admissions tests such as the GRE or GMAT. Those with a pre-MBA degree go on to the MBA program at the same institution or can choose to apply to programs elsewhere with their new skills and higher scores.

Curriculum - Every school will have different a unique curriculum for their pre-MBA courses. Almost all pre-MBA's will have a focus on bringing you up to speed on the business basics and terminology so that you can jump right in to your MBA classes. Some will focus on preparing you for the the types of research-based assignments and graduate level workloads that are required at their institution. Others will have a component of their program that acts as preparation for the GMAT exam and allows you to boost your score to the levels required to get into the institution of you choice. Finally, some pre-MBA programs are aimed towards international students and their curriculum might include english language training and cultural training and adjustment to a new country.
Program Length - Pre-MBA programs can vary in length from 4 weeks to a full 8 month school year. The short programs act a a quick refresher before your MBA while the longer pre-MBA programs are like a full year of school that will help you to not only get into the business school you want but also succeed academically when you are enrolled.
Services & Technology - Pre-MBA programs will also differ on the levels of service and/or technology integrated into the program. Some will be tightly integrated with their schools office of international student services or other resources from the University treating you much like any other full-time student while others are separate programs that do not include the same level of services. If you are interested in technology, be sure to ask about how technology is integrated into the program as this can vary greatly between institutions as well.
Do I need to take a Pre-MBA course?
The short answer is No - There aren't any MBA programs that have a set requirement that you must take a pre-MBA program if you can qualify to enter straight into the regular program. However, the true answer to this question can really only be answered by you once you've done lots of research into the business schools and MBA programs which you want to study at.A few reasons why you might want to take a Pre-MBA Program include;

- Get a basic review of business terminology and concepts
- Adjust to a new country's culture, business etiquette, and social norms
